Michigan State fired Mel Tucker with cause on Monday. We’re thinking that former LSU Football head coach Ed Orgeron is a candidate to fill the void.

Mel Tucker leveraged Kenneth Walker and the remnants of Mark Dantonio’s roster to an 11-2 record, including a Peach Bowl win in 2021. Less than two years later, Michigan State is looking for their next football head coach. As such, we’re wondering if the next Spartans head coach is an infamous former LSU Football coach.

Enter Ed Orgeron as the Cajun elephant in the room.

We had fun with a social media post suggesting Ed Orgeron is the only man who can restore decency and respect within the Michigan State football program. Over 154k users commented, including Spartans fans who support bringing Coach O to East Lansing. We agree.

Michigan State must consider Ed Orgeron as a candidate to replace Tucker. Spartans fans are starting to talk about it on X (Twitter).

Hiring Orgeron as their head coach is not as asinine of an idea for Michigan State as some might think. Fans must consider that we’re talking about a program that gave Tucker a 10-year, $95 million contract extension after one full season. Suffice it to say that the decision-makers in East Lansing have made some irrational moves.

Regardless, Coach O is a more accomplished head coach than Tucker.

Orgeron’s tenure with LSU Football ended in disarray, but the Spartans cannot ignore his accomplishments in 2019. The record-setting season proves Coach O’s ability to recruit excellent assistant coaches, top high school talent, and budding superstars from the transfer portal.

Conversely, the current Rhoback spokesman would not be the most PG hire. Much was made public regarding Ed Orgeron’s off-field conduct in his final days as Tigers head coach. As such Coach O is probably not the best hire for Michigan State football.

We assume the Spartans seek a model citizen as their next head coach. Also, do folks above the Mason-Dixon Line understand a word Coach O says?

Nevertheless, Orgeron will appear on most candidate lists tied to the Michigan State football head coaching vacancy.
