The Cincinnati Bengals dropped another game in which Joe Burrow did not look like himself. Indeed, the organization is poorly managing their franchise QB.

Many jokes are circulating the Web regarding Joe Burrow receiving a record-setting contract extension and playing lazy. However, there is truth to the claims that the Cincinnati Bengals franchise quarterback is not playing like his usual self.

It’s the Bengals’ fault that Burrow has struggled through the first two weeks of the NFL season.
Joe Burrow suffered a calf injury that sidelined him for most of the preseason. Initially, it was thought that the former LSU Tigers signal-caller would miss some regular season games.

However, Burrow rehabbed his injured calf ahead of schedule and started Cincinnati’s Week 1 game vs. Cleveland, a 24-3 drubbing in which he threw for 82 yards.

The Bengals are foolish to thrust their franchise quarterback onto the field so soon. I’m sure Burrow campaigned to start the season under center, but such is not his decision.

The Bengals played better last Sunday but lost to Baltimore 27-24. Indeed, it was another game in which Joe Burrow could not do what he does best. Burrow is nearly playing one-legged football against the NFL’s better defenses. Simultaneously, the Bengals’ interior offensive line is struggling, and the rushing attack is non-existent.

Seeing Burrow’s 41 pass attempts in the box score is almost as ugly as the image of him massaging his calf between Cincinnati’s offensive drives on Sunday.

I imagine Cincinnati brass is second-guessing themselves. With the team 0-2 and facing media scrutiny for poor play, I assume they’re regretting putting Burrow back in action prematurely.

The Bengals won’t get back to winning consistently until their superstar quarterback can use his legs to extend plays. Such ability forever lives in infamy in the hearts and minds of LSU Tigers fans.

The silver lining for Week 3 is that Cincinnati doesn’t play until Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. I hope the extra day of rest serves Joe Burrow well.
