LSU Football will tangle with Arkansas on Saturday night in Death Valley. As such, Tigers head coach Brian Kelly updated the media on injuries for Week 4.

LSU Football was short some players during their Week 3 SEC opener against Mississippi State. Safety Greg Brooks Jr. was one of a few Tigers that Brian Kelly announced unavailable. Sadly, we discovered that Brooks underwent emergency surgery this week after doctors discovered a brain tumor.

Brooks remains sidelined indefinitely while he and his family anxiously await biopsy results.

Mason Taylor is probable to play for LSU Football

Tight end Mason Taylor is expected to return to the field in Week 4 against Arkansas. Such is welcome news to LSU fans who noticed true freshman Mac Markway struggle some against Mississippi State. Markway certainly earned Kelly’s attention during the game, and it wasn’t the good kind of attention.

Taylor sprained his ankle in the 2nd quarter against Grambling State in Week 2. For what it’s worth, the sophomore was listed as probable in Week 3 but downgraded to doubtful last week.

Ovie Oghoufo is also probable for Week 4

Linebacker Ovie Oghoufo should return to the field for Week 4 against Arkansas. The transfer from Texas was sidelined last week in Starkville because of a lower-body injury. Oghoufo’s veteran experience is an asset to LSU Football in the Battle of the Boot. The Tigers are heavy favorites to win the game, but all rules go out the window for rivalry matchups.

Junior Bradyn Swinson has looked great in Oghoufo’s absence at JACK linebacker.

Omar Speights is doubtful for the second straight week

Kelly announced that Oregon State transfer Omar Speights is unlikely to play again this week. As a result, LSU Football will start freshman Whit Weeks alongside Greg Penn III. Tigers fans are unlikely to complain because Weeks and Penn looked phenomenal last week at Mississippi State.

Speights is a good football player the Tigers will need as the season progresses. For now, we’re all about seeing another week of the defensive combination that stifled the Bulldogs’ offense in Week 3.

Thankfully, the injuries in Baton Rouge are minimal except for Brooks’ medical emergency.

Knock of wood, the Tigers emerge from this weekend’s Battle of the Boot without significant injuries.
