LSU Football: Welcome to Ole Miss Rebels hate week
By John Fye
LSU Football heads to Oxford, Mississippi, for a Week 5 clash with their second SEC opponent of 2023. That means Ole Miss Hate Week starts now.
Many talking heads and fans thought LSU’s Week 4 game against Arkansas would tell us much about where the Tigers are heading this season. I disagree. To me, the Week 5 game against No. 20 Ole Miss will be the most revealing LSU Football game since the Florida State loss.
LSU met an Arkansas team that was playing for their slim SEC West title hopes last Saturday. The Hogs entered Death Valley after an embarrassing loss to BYU. Sam Pittman’s group used their size and will to take a more talented Tigers roster to the wire.
Ole Miss will offer a more significant challenge to LSU in Week 5.
Much of what enabled Arkansas was their backs against the wall attitude. Suffice it to say that Ole Miss literally has their backs against the wall come Saturday. Lane Kiffin’s crew dropped their Week 4 game at Alabama and cannot afford to go 0-2 in SEC West play.
Moreover, Ole Miss has many playmakers, including a mobile quarterback who leads his team in rushing and receivers capable of giving LSU’s defensive backs fits. The Rebels’ defense is worth mentioning, as they held Alabama to six points in the first half of their Week 4 contest in Tuscaloosa.
The Rebels have a bad taste in their mouths ahead of their Week 5 clash with LSU Football. The Tigers arguably derailed Ole Miss’s season a year ago. Few fans will forget LSU welcoming the 7-0 Rebels to Death Valley with a 45-20 drudging that sent Ole Miss into a tailspin.
You can count on the Hotty Toddy’s trying their hardest to return the favor on Saturday.
LSU vs. Ole Miss will kick off from Oxford at 5 pm CT this Saturday on ESPN.
