The LSU Football moved up in the college football rankings after beating Missouri 49-39 on Saturday. However, the Tigers remain far from playoff discussion.

The Associated Press released their Top 25 college football rankings on Sunday. LSU Football moved up one spot following their win over Missouri. Indeed, a disappointing but not surprising anecdote for Tigers fans.

Missouri was undefeated and ranked No. 21 before LSU rolled into Columbia on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Bayou Bengals’ win did not do much to move the needle with pollsters. The Tigers are the nation’s No. 22 team for Week 7’s “Tiger Bowl” against Auburn.

I can’t blame AP voters for not moving LSU Football up more than a spot. The Tigers are a dynamic team on offense that is missing support on defense. What’s worse is their bad defense is not demonstrating signs of improvement.

Notre Dame ranks ahead of LSU at No. 21 in the Week 7 AP Poll. Brian Kelly’s former squad dropped 11 spots after losing their second game of the year, a convincing defeat to Louisville. Now, an LSU vs. Notre Dame bowl game is within the realm of possibility.

Kansas moved back into the AP Top 25 and now, occupies LSU’s former spot at No. 23. Meanwhile, Missouri dropped out of the rankings.

The USA Today Coaches Poll was more generous to LSU Football for Week 7. The Tigers moved up three spots in such poll and sit at No. 20 after their picking up a fourth win.

The coaches ranked Notre Dame behind LSU at No. 21. UCLA, and it’s also interesting that Mizzou remains ranked (No. 25) in the Coaches Poll.

LSU’s Week 7 opponent in Auburn is unranked with a 3-2 record.

The Oklahoma Sooners were the biggest winners in both polls this week. Brent Venables’ squad shot up 11 spots to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 and five spots to No. 7 in the Coaches Poll. But of course, the promotions are the result of Oklahoma’s upset win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry Game.

Next. What makes LSU a borderline Top 25 team. dark

Alabama remained idle in the AP and Coaches polls despite their road win over Texas A&M.
