LSU Football takes on Army for homecoming. Here are three things that fans should know heading into Saturday’s matchup against Army Football.

LSU Football seems to be hitting their stride. They are entering homecoming weekend still on an emotional high after defeating Auburn last weekend. Homecoming is always special, but it will be extra special this weekend. LSU Football has the priviledge of taking on the Golden Knights of Army on homecoming weekend.

Fun Fact 1: LSU was founded as a military school

You will not find many universities that takes the time to honor the military as much as LSU does. The athletic department has always done a great job to make sure that the military is recognized and honored. Nothing less would be acceptable.

LSU was founded as an all-male military school in 1860. The relationship between LSU and the military has continued even though LSU is no longer a military school.

Alex Box Stadium is named after Alex Box, a former student-athlete at LSU and a war hero that lost his life in World War II. LSU Football will wear an American flag patch on their uniforms

Saturday, and the endzones will be painted camoflauge to honor Army Football on homecoming weekend.

Fun Fact 2: Army leads the all-time series

LSU has never defeated Army in a football game. Army won the first game. LSU Football hopes to even the series on homecoming weekend. This is bigger than football though.

This means a lot to every person in the military. I serve in the Air Force. It means a lot to me. It means a lot to my buddy Jake who also serves in the Air Force. He is a season ticket holder, but has not attended a game all season. He was deployed back in the spring and is currently heading back home to Mississippi.

It means a lot to every LSU fan that has served or is currently serving in the military. I hope that we do play Army, Navy, and Air Force more in the future. USA!! USA!!

Fun Fact 3: LSU will be undefeated in October with a win over Army

September ended bad for LSU Football. We seemed to be left for dead with two losses. October has been good to LSU so far. The Fighting Tigers need to secure victory to finish October undefeated.

A win Saturday will give LSU a ton of momentum heading into the bye week before they face Alabama on November 4th.
