There is never a week off in the SEC and after losing to No. 8 Alabama last week, the No. 19 LSU Tigers will host Graham Mertz and the 5-4 Florida Gators. It should be an easier matchup than the Crimson Tide, especially at home, but is made far more difficult if Logan Diggs is unable to play.

Before getting injured last week, quarterback Jayden Daniels led the Tigers in rushing, and with 684 yards, he leads LSU on the ground this year. Logan Diggs is right behind with 635 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 113 carries.

Last week, Diggs only ran the ball eight times for 24 yards against Alabama before sustaining an upper-body injury that could keep him on the sidelines today. LSU’s third-leading rusher is Josh Williams, who ran for 19 yards and a touchdown on four carries last week.

Williams, the senior running back, has compiled 180 yards and three touchdowns on just 23 carries for Brian Kelly’s team this season.

Kelly was asked about the status of his RB1 this week. In a mid-week press conference Kelly had said Diggs was questionable with the upper-body injury, but he later downgraded him to doubtful on a radio show that same day.

LSU is first in total offense and yards per play. Diggs’ efficiency on the ground is a big part of that success. Florida’s defense shouldn’t be a big problem. The Gators rank 103rd in the country in yards per play allowed and 87th allowing 4.4 yards per rush.

Williams and John Emery Jr. should be able to provide a solid rushing attack today.

Logan Diggs injury status:

Diggs is DOUBTFUL after wearing a non-contact jersey in practice this week for an upper-body injury.
