As the spring turns to summer, the LSU Football program is preparing for a crucial stretch on the recruiting trail. While the Tigers currently hold the Nation's top recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, the 2027 recruiting cycle will start to become a focus. This summer, some of the top players in the 2027 class will come off the board which makes it important to start quickly with each recruit. This week, On3 released an update Top 300 for the 2027 recruiting class giving LSU a solid chance at the Nation's top class.
The area where LSU has needed to improve the last few seasons has been on the defensive side of the football where the Tigers have significantly struggled. When you land elite recruits its much easier to take the next step and with a 5-star edge rusher and the 3rd ranked player in the class playing in New Orleans, the Tigers should have the inside track with a 5-star recruit.

Under Brian Kelly, LSU has been built through the offensive line, producing four NFL Draft picks in the 2025 Draft. As Brad Davis continues to stack elite offensive line classes for the Tigers, having the 11th-ranked player and top-ranked interior offensive lineman In-State gives the Tigers a great chance at picking up another elite recruit.

When you think of the recent success LSU has had developing players, no position stands out more than the Wide Receiver position. The Tigers developed Odell Beckham Jr and Jarvis Landry, Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson, and the latest duo of Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. Louisiana natives give LSU loaded receiver talent on a yearly basis and New Orleans native Easton Royal could be the next 5-star wide receiver for the Tigers ranking as the 14th ranked player in the class.

The state of Louisiana gives LSU a shot at several other elite talents which could give the Tigers an elite class. Tight End and LSU legacy Ahmad Hudson is the 40th ranked player in the class and the 3rd ranked tight end in the class. Elijah Haven still grades out highly in the industry rankings despite being dropped in On3's rankings and still has the talent to finish the cycle as a 5-star recruit. In total, Louisiana has 13 top 300 recruits in On3's latest upgrade which gives LSU a great pool of players in its backyard.
