While the LSU Football team is loading up via the transfer portal, it has gotten easy to get swept up under the rug and forget about a few outstanding issues. One of those issues is that LSU needed to find a new tight ends coach as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Slade Nagle left to take the offensive coordinator job at Houston rejoining Willie Fritz's staff.

The timing of the loss added an interesting wrinkle as the transfer portal was set to open while the coaching staffs start to focus on recruiting the 2026 class.

On Thursday, LSU reoffered 2026 tight end Landen Miree a three-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class.

The offer isn't a groundbreaking offer or massive news but, one part of Miree's tweet is certainly news. Miree tagged Nate Dodson in his announcement and Dodson's twitter bio now reads Tight Ends and given that he's the one who Miree tagged in his post, it appears that Dodson's the new tight ends coach.

Nate Dodson was a Graduate Assistant on the staff, Dodson has been on the staff at Minnesota and Colorado before joining the Tigers in February.

It's also likely that Dodson is filling the role as LSU prepares for the Bowl Game while Brian Kelly looks for his next tight ends coach. Given that Slade Nagle was also LSU's Special Team's coach, the Tigers should be adding a coach at both roles. This Summer, the NCAA eased its rules allowing more on-field coaches which should mean that LSU hires a coach for each individual role rather than doubling a coach up.
