This week brings excitement and chaos to the NFL as the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday Night with the first round beginning. The NFL Draft brings the excitement of the draft but, it also brings a ton of trades as draft picks and players can be dealt as each team shapes its future. During the week and during the draft we'll see several players and picks trade places.
After a breakout season with the New England Patriots, Kayshon Boutte seemed like a piece of the team's plans going forward. Boutte had a clear chemistry with rookie quarterback Drake Maye catching 43 passes for 589 yards and 3 touchdowns posting his best season to date. While the play on the field pointed toward Boutte sticking with the Patriots, the latest buzz indicates that Kayshon Boutte may be out of the team's future plans.
On Monday, Adam Schefter named Kayshon Boutte as a player that could be traded this week amid the chaos.
The news comes as a surprise given that Boutte just had his best season to date while showing a clear chemistry with the Patriots emerging star Drake Maye. While it's fair for the Patriots to shop Kayshon Boutte, the timing of the entire situation is the biggest surprise.
Boutte was seemingly on the roster bubble last year during Training Camp and the Preseason but, stayed on the roster and ended up exceeding expectations. There seemed like times the team was ready to cut bait with Boutte but, now with his value being the highest it may just be time to cash in. This will be Boutte's third Head Coach and third offensive coordinator in as many seasons which is another sign he may be moved as the regime has no ties to Boutte.
If Boutte is moved he could have a big market as he'll likely command a Day 3 pick with proven production while still being on a rookie contract.
