This past spring, Sai'vion Jones was one of seven LSU Tigers to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Denver Broncos selected him in the third round with the 101st overall pick.
As he battles for a spot on Denver's strong defensive line, a great preseason debut has the former LSU Tiger turning heads. In his preseason debut this past weekend against the 49ers, Jones seized an opportunity by picking up a fumble recovery in Denver's 30-9 win. He also added a pass break up by getting his right hand up to deflect a Carter Bradley pass at the line of scrimmage. Overall, it was an impressive first showing for Jones.

Denver's belief in Jones evident in Draft day trade
The Broncos made it clear how much they valued Jones by trading up to pick him this past April. Denver traded picks No. 111, 130, and 191 for pick No. 101 and a fourth-rounder. They took Jones with the No. 101 pick, and so far, the early returns are encouraging. Jones has the potential to play a part in a Bronco defense that should be among the league's best in 2025.
Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has orchestrated a strong turnaround to Denver's defense, which has Jones in a great spot entering his rookie season. Last season, the Broncos led the league in sacks with 63. They also ranked third in points allowed per game (18.3) and seventh in yards allowed per game (317.1). The Broncos made the playoffs for the first time since 2015, and could be poised for a postseason return this season.
Because of last season's defensive success for Denver, Jones will still have to fight for playing time. Entering the season, he will most likely spend time behind veteran All-Pro Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers. Allen and Franklin-Myers combined for 15.5 sacks last season. But, Jones is plenty capable of working his way into the mix and making a strong impact on Denver's defensive line.
While the LSU defense as a whole couldn't orchestrate strong seasons in recent years under Brian Kelly, Jones was an impact player for the Tigers. Jones finished his LSU career with 51 appearances and 29 starts. In total, he accumulated 99 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks in Baton Rouge. He also added 17 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles. A pillar of durability, Jones capped his collegiate career with 27 consecutive starts, and picked up 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks during his senior season in 2024.
