The MLB Offseason got off to a rapid start as stars like Juan Soto and Max Fried came off the board very early into the winter. As the MLB Offseason continued, one of the big ticket free agents remained unsigned as former LSU star Alex Bregman was awaiting a new deal as he moved on from the Houston Astros.

On Wednesday Night, Alex Bregman's wait ended as he cashed in signing a massive three year $120 million contract with the Boston Red Sox.

The deal is massive for Alex Bregman as he gives himself the chance to hit free agency once more for a massive deal before his career ends. Given that the Red Sox already have Rafael Devers who plays third base, Alex Bregman will play second base. While Bregman hasn't played much at second in his career, his former coach and now manager Alex Cora referred to him as someone who could be a Gold Glove second baseman.

During his time with the Houston Astros, Alex Bregman became a franchise icon helping the team in winning two World Series. Bregman was a two time All Star, a Gold Glover, a Silver Slugger, and the All Star Game Most Valuable Player. He ends his time in Houston with 1,132 hits, 191 Home Runs, 663 RBIs, 42 stolen bases, and a .272 batting average.

The fit in Boston is great for Bregman who has had a ton of success at Fenway Park where he'll now play half of the season. The only player with a higher On Base Percentage at Fenway than Bregman's .490 mark is Ted Williams at .495.

Bregman's signing with the Boston Red Sox is a full circle moment as the team drafted him in the 29th Round of the 2012 MLB Draft but, he instead came to LSU. Now Bregman will look to lead the team as they come out of a rebuilding era and look to get back to Playoff Contention.
