The LSU Basketball team has slowed down in its transfer portal cycle after a blazing hot week saw the Tigers fill almost every need on the roster. The Tigers added their star point guard landing UNLV's Dedan Thomas Jr and the addition of Marquel Sutton gives the Tigers their scoring threat on the inside. As Matt McMahon and his staff have rebuilt LSU's roster there are a few pieces around the edges that would make for overall solid pieces to finish off the rebuild.
On Tuesday, one player entered the transfer portal with ties to LSU which has the Tigers faithful talking.
Maryland Forward Julian Reese enters the transfer portal with LSU ties
On Tuesday, Maryland Forward Julian Reese announced his decision to enter the transfer portal after four seasons at Maryland.
While Reese is now in the transfer portal, he’s currently out of eligibility as he’s played in four seasons for the Terrapins. This has become a trend as of late as hundreds of players who are out of eligibility are currently in the transfer portal seeking one more season of college basketball.
Julian Reese has ties to LSU as he’s the brother of LSU Women’s basketball legend Angel Reese who also made headlines by transferring to LSU from Maryland.
It’s unclear whether or not Reese will get an extra year or when the decision will be made by the NCAA. Given the timeline it’ll likely take some time before the NCAA makes an official decision which could allow LSU to make Reese the final addition to this class.
Reese is a player that could help LSU as a small forward or power forward at 6 foot 9. Julian Reese averaged 13.3 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game, and 1.5 blocks per game making an impact on both ends of the court.
