Earlier this week, the LSU Football team had Auburn transfer defensive back Keionte Scott on campus for a visit as the Tigers look to address some of their issues in the secondary. As LSU was looking to land Scott so were several other Power Five Schools including Houston who landed Scott's commitment on Friday.
In his career at Auburn, Scott played in 33 games starting 23 games racking up115 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, a sack, 10 pass defenses, and an interception. Adding Scott would add yet, another impressive returner to LSU's loaded kick and punt return group for 2025 as he led the SEC with a 14.8 yards per punt return average in 2023.
While LSU won't land Keionte Scott, it may not necessarily be bad news for LSU and may even mean good news is on the way. Brian Kelly has long hinted that LSU will take in 15 transfers and with LSU sitting on 14 signees, they likely couldn't take Scott if they were eyeing another player they liked more.
The last two days LSU has hosted NC State transfer defensive back Tamarcus Cooley on a transfer visit.
Cooley initially committed to Ole Miss but, flipped and started his career off at Maryland before he transferred to NC State spending one season with the Wolfpack. This season, Tamarcus Cooley recorded 39 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 6 pass defenses while grading out as the highest ranked player on NC State's defense.
The Tigers can deploy Cooley either at Safety or Cornerback but, given the need for safeties, LSU will likely play Cooley at safety if they can land the commitment. According to On3, Cooley is the 71st ranked player who entered the Transfer Portal this offseason and the 2nd ranked safety this cycle.
