On Thursday Morning, news came out of nowhere that LSU would be losing defensive line coach Bo Davis a year after poaching him from Texas as Davis accepted the same role with the New Orleans Saints. The loss of Davis means LSU will now hire its 11th defensive line coach in 12 years and its 7th defensive line coach in the last 6 years.
While Bo Davis' ability to develop players is far and away the biggest loss, not too far behind it is his ability as a recruiter. Davis has been one of the best at recruiting the position across the Country and showed that in his first season at LSU signing four defensive tackles.
This recruiting cycle is massive for LSU with five-star defensive tackle Lamar Brown's recruitment, keeping elite Top-50 defensive lineman Richard Anderson from Edna Karr on board, and landing other in-state linemen like Dylan Berymon and Darryus McKinley.
As of late, LSU had looked to be pulling away in the recruitment of Lamar Brown, but as Davis leaves many asked the question of how it affects LSU's chances with Brown. Lamar Brown took to Twitter or as its now known X and shared some great news with LSU fans.
MY recruitment doesn’t change for me Tigers still #1‼️🐯

LSU fans couldn't have asked for a better response to the news that Bo Davis is leaving and Brian Kelly's staff gets to take a deep breath. According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Brown is the 12th ranked player in the 2026 class, the top Interior Offensive Lineman, and the top player out of Louisiana but, Brown wants to play defense in College. After seeing Jahkeem Stewart head West last cycle, keeping the top defensive lineman in the State at home is the top priority for LSU.
The next step for LSU is landing a new defensive line coach before the Spring starts with spring practices and recruiting visits on the horizon.
