The LSU Tigers suffered a tough break early on in Week 2 against Louisiana Tech. Starting center Braelin Moore has gone down with an injury, and here's what we know so far.

Braelin Moore injury update: What we know

On the first play from scrimmage on Saturday night against Louisiana Tech, LSU starting center Braelin Moore went down with a lower body injury. It appeared that his legs got rolled up on from behind, which left Moore down on the ground for several moments after the play. He had to be helped up but was able to walk off the field unassisted. Furthermore, he was able to walk to the locker room under his own power with medical personnel.

Moore came to LSU this past offseason from Virginia Tech via the transfer portal. He started at center in the season opener at Clemson, and has played a prominent role in LSU's new-look offensive line that allowed just one sack against Clemson's vaunted defensive line last Saturday.

DJ Chester steps in for Braelin Moore

Moore was replaced at center by DJ Chester. Chester is a redshirt sophomore who earned Freshman All-SEC honors in 2024. He started all 13 games at center for the Tigers last season, and played all but one offensive series throughout the course of the season.

It's a good sign that Moore was able to walk to the locker room under his own power. It also is assuring that his replacement, Chester, has experience playing center. But, Moore is a vital player in LSU's new offensive line, and his absence would be a big one. LSU opens SEC play next week vs Florida.
