Brian Kelly shares his thoughts on LSU's win over Arkansas in the Post Game
The LSU Tigers handled their business on Saturday night beating Arkansas while remaining unbeaten in SEC play. The win was big for the Tigers as they could've easily slept through the start of the game after a massive win last week but, Brian Kelly had his team prepared. After the game, Brian Kelly spoke on his team's win in the press conference.
All night LSU controlled the line of scrimmage rushing for 158 yards averaging 4.3 yards per carry while holding Arkansas to just 38 yards rushing on two yards per carry. Brian Kelly spoke on his teams dominance in the trenches and how encouraging it is to see.
"Those are the things you look for in a football team that is emerging as a contender."
- Brian Kelly
The past two games, no one has been more impressive than Sophomore linebacker Whit Weeks who is emerging as one of the best linebackers in College Football. On Saturday, Weeks added another 9 tackles, a tackle for a loss, a sack and an interception. Brian Kelly spoke on Weeks and how he's consistently all over the field saying the following:
"He’s active. What stands out is he’s active in nearly all the plays. He’s an elite player in this league."
- Brian Kelly
One of the traditions we love seeing is who Brian Kelly gives the game ball to, on Saturday Night it was Damian Ramos who was the unsung hero nailing four field goals and two extra points including a few makes from forty or more yards out.
The defense is starting to round into form and as this group gets better, LSU's chances in any game get better. Kelly spoke on his defense and their ability to make plays as of late forcing three turnovers on Saturday.
"Our defense is getting the big plays and we’re turning them into turnovers. We’re jarring the ball loose, we didn’t luck into those."
- Brian Kelly
On Saturday night, LSU played spoiler as Arkansas made the bold decision of making LSU its homecoming game which Kelly addressed to close his press conference.
"Maybe next year they’ll think about not making us homecoming anymore"
- Brian Kelly
Arkansas won't be able to make LSU its homecoming game next season as the game is at LSU but, we'll see in two years if the Razorbacks are that bold.
