In a stunning NFL coaching move, the Buffalo Bills have promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach of the franchise. Brady has been with Buffalo since 2022, where he started as the quarterbacks coach before getting promoted to offensive coordinator following the 2023 season. Brady has reportedly agreed to a five-year deal, and is set to become the 21st head coach in Bills franchise history.

Corey Barber’s 5-star rise is a huge win for LSU and a brutal blow to Ole Miss

Brady takes over for Sean McDermott who was fired following Buffalo's 33-30 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Round two weeks ago. McDermott had led the Bills for nine seasons, making the playoffs in eight of those seasons. He leaves Buffalo with an overall record of 98-50 and an 8-8 mark in the playoffs.

Joe Brady takes over a Bills franchise with high hopes for 2026

Buffalo has made the playoffs in seven consecutive seasons, but has failed to reach the Super Bowl. Brady is looking to change that. He gets his first head coaching job at the age of 36, and takes over a Bills franchise that has the 3rd best odds (+1000) on DraftKings Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl next season. Needless to say, Brady will be feeling the pressure from Day 1.

In two years as Buffalo's offensive coordinator, Brady led the Buffalo offense to impressive marks. This past season, the Bills led the NFL with 159.6 rushing yards per game and time of possession (33:08). They also ranked 3rd in red zone efficiency (66.2%), 4th in points per game (28.3), and 4th in total yards per game (376.3). Over his two seasons as Buffalo's offensive coordinator, the Bills ranked 2nd in the NFL in points per game (29.6) and 3rd in total yards per game (367.6).

Josh Allen has reached superstar status with Brady as his quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator, and he figures to remain an MVP candidate under Brady's leadership.

Brady famously helped lead the LSU Football program to an incredible 2019 season that culminated in a National Championship. Brady served as the passing game coordinator & wide receivers coach on Ed Orgeron's staff, and helped orchestrate a historic passing attack that featured the likes of Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson.

He jumped to the NFL immediately following that 2019 season, becoming the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. Brady remained in Carolina for two seasons before heading to Buffalo in 2022. He now gets a chance to be a head coach, and Tiger fans are eager to see if he can lead the Bills to their first ever Super Bowl title in franchise history.
