A few weeks ago, the LSU Tigers picked up a 17-10 win on the road at then-No. 4 Clemson. The win gave the Tigers a season-opening win for the first time since 2019, and signaled to the country that the Tigers were legitimate National Championship contenders this season.

The defense shined in the opener, while Garrett Nussmeier went 9-for-9 for 39 yards in the fourth quarter, and tossed a game-winning touchdown pass to Trey'Dez Green with just over 11 minutes to go.

At the time, it was a massive win that put the entire country on notice. However, the win isn't looking as impressive after Clemson's 1-2 start and loss to unranked Georgia Tech in Week 3. In a closely-contested game, the Yellow Jackets prevailed by a score of 24-21 to knock Clemson out of the top-25 in the Week 4 AP Poll.

Clemson QB Kade Clubnik entered the season as one of the Heisman frontunners, but he has struggled to get going in 2025. Through three games, Klubnik has completed just 59.1% of his passes for 633 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions.

Clemson also struggled in their lone win so far this season. In Week 2, Dabo Swinney's squad trailed Troy 16-3 at halftime before rallying for a 27-16 victory. Clemson hasn't looked all that great, and while things can certainly turn around, for the time being, Clemson falling from No. 4 to out of the top-25 in just three weeks might not bode well for LSU.

Seeing Clemson spiral the way they have could put some doubt in LSU's Week 1 road win. However, there's a lot of season left, and LSU's upcoming schedule still presents plenty of opportunity to continue to impress. Plus, it's worth mentioning that Clemson won the ACC and made an appearance in the College Football Playoff last season after losing three regular season games.
