Earlier this week, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was released by the Kansas City Chiefs as they juggle their roster amid injuries. Edwards-Helaire hadn't played this season as he started the year on the Non Football Injury list as he dealt with mental health struggles off the field. Edwards-Helaire played 48 games with the Chiefs rushing for1,845 yardsand 12 touchdowns adding 765 yards and 7 touchdowns receiving. In the Playoffs, he gave the Chiefs 263 yards and a touchdown winning a pair of Super Bowl Rings.
The team we hoped Edwards-Helaire would land with was the Cincinnati Bengals, to reunite with Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. Clyde Edwards-Helaire ends up in an even better spot as he's signed with the New Orleans Saints.
The move comes after Alvin Kamara suffered an injury in Sunday's game against the Commanders giving the Saints immediate help at the running back position.
The signing brings the Baton Rouge Native back home which is eciting news for LSU fans who will get to watch him play again. Edwards-Helaire joins fellow LSU Tigers Tyrann Mathieu, Foster Moreau, and Austin Deculus who is on the Saints practice squad.
The move gives Clyde a chance to showcase that he can still be a productive running back in the NFL which can land to him hopefully landing with a team long term. After seeing Edwards-Helaire sidelined and behind other running backs, it'll be exciting to see Edwards-Helaire back in action in the NFL as he can definitely still be a productive running back in the NFL.
