The College Football Playoff National Championship is just hours away as the Ohio State Buckeyes are set to face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Buckeyes are heavily expected to win this game but, if Notre Dame wins it may not be as bad for Ohio State as it would be for Brian Kelly.

As the Fighting Irish have advanced through the College Football Playoff, at every stop fans, analysts, and media members have taken shots at Brian Kelly for his comments when leaving Notre Dame. While Brian Kelly said he's rooting for his former players and assistants deep down, he has to be rooting for Ohio State as he'll only get more hate if Notre Dame wins.

Among those throwing shade are Pat McAfee and Comedian Shane Gillis who went on the Pat McAfee Show and took a shot at Brian Kelly which McAfee set up. Gillis is a massive Notre Dame fan so there are certainly still some tough feelings.

"Marcus is the man he's awesome. Brian Kelly went to LSU and now he's going to ruin that program"
Shane Gillis

While Notre Dame fans can be excited about their chances in the National Title and excited about what Marcus Freeman is doing for the program they should also realize, Marcus Freeman hasn't done anything more than Brian Kelly has. Kelly got the Irish to the BCS National Championship Game and lost which is a likely outcome for Freeman tonight.

Fans can cite that Brian Kelly never won a College Football Playoff game but, Freeman needed the Playoff field to expand to 12 Teams to even make the Playoff while for most of Kelly's tenure he needed to be one of the best four teams in the Country. Monday Night could either be a great night for Notre Dame or a night that makes the Irish realize the glass celing still exists.
