As it stands, LSU has zero scholarship quarterbacks on its 2026 roster. Lane Kiffin has been on the prowl for a signal-caller via the transfer portal, but up to this point, has been unsuccessful. After missing out on Brendan Sorsby, Kiffin has made former Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt his top priority, but he remains undecided and has visited both Tennessee and Miami (FL) since his visit to Baton Rouge earlier this week.
Sam Leavitt still undecided after Lane Kiffin's latest unorthodox recruitment tactic
Kiffin's handling of Leavitt's portal recruitment has been bumpy, as the Demond Williams situation played out during Leavitt's visit to LSU. As Kiffin continues to pursue Leavitt, there's another under-the-radar QB that he is also eyeing.
Landen Clark receives offer from LSU and Lane Kiffin
Elon QB Landen Clark was an FCS All-American this past season as a redshirt freshman, and Kiffin has already extended him an offer to come to LSU. Per his X account (formerly Twitter), Clark is currently on a multi-day visit to LSU.
Clark racked up 2,321 yards and 18 touchdowns with 8 interceptions through the air in 2025. Along with possessing elite arm talent, he can also make things happen with his legs. The Radford, VA native added 614 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground in 12 games this past season.
Clark has drawn the attention of several Power 4 programs, and LSU's main competition at this point in time appears to be the Michigan Wolverines. Clark visited Ann Arbor earlier this week, but as Kiffin continues waiting for a decision from Leavitt, he is hoping that Clark chooses to play for the Tigers in 2026.

Kiffin's success with Trinidad Chambliss could pave the way for Landen Clark at LSU
Kiffin experienced great success with Division II transfer Trinidad Chambliss this past season at Ole Miss. Chambliss led Ferris State to a Division II national title last season, and burst onto the scene this year by leading the Rebels to their best regular season in program history and a birth in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Perhaps Kiffin is hoping to strike gold with a QB from a lower level of college football in back-to-back seasons, this time from the FCS level.
Clark owns a 6'0" 186-pound frame, and his Elon teammates and coaches praise his leadership, “freakish” arm talent, and athleticism. Clark's dual-threat skill set could be a great fit for Kiffin's offensive scheme.
Leavitt remains Kiffin's No. 1 priority at this time, but getting Clark in LSU's QB room could present exciting possibilities for the Tigers moving forward. He may not grab the QB1 role right away, but with 3 years of eligibility remaining, a Clark/Kiffin partnership could be exciting to watch down the road.
