Dan Lanning overtakes Brian Kelly with All-Time cringeworthy recruiting fail

During his tenure at LSU, all Brian Kelly has gotten is hate whether it has come from the National media or from members of the LSU fanbase. Part of the hate Brian Kelly has gotten is because he's an outsider to the SEC and Louisiana which gave many something to pick on when Brian Kelly broke out a fake accent which set the internet on fire.

While Brian Kelly's accent set the internet on fire, it was far from his most infamous moment early on in his LSU career. Kelly set the internet on storm when a video was posted of Kelly dancing with tight end recruit Danny Lewis.

While Kelly dancing with Lewis was cringeworthy, all would've been forgotten if the Tigers signed Danny Lewis. Instead, Danny Lewis spurned Brian Kelly instead signing with Alabama which made many declare that Kelly had the worst recruiting video of all time.

A few weeks ago, Dan Lanning set himself up to potentially become an even bigger punchline then Brian Kelly. When 5-star edge rusher Richard Wesley announced his commitment to Oregon, he did so with Dan Lanning who ripped his shirt off and joined his newest commit jumping into the pool.

If Lanning kept Wesley on board, it still would've been an awkward video but, all would've been forgotten. Instead, on Tuesday Night, Richard Wesley decommitted to Oregon less than a Month after the video, making it far and away the most embarrassing recruiting moment of all time.

It's tough to knock Dan Lanning as College coaches are willing to do anything to land an elite recruit and in the moment, Dan Lanning achieved his goal. On the other hand, as a Coach you have to have a better sense for the reaction if the recruit doesn't sign with the program. Every coach needs a Director of Common Sense who can ultimately say "Hey Dan Lanning, don't jump in the pool or that video will be posted for the rest of time making fun of you.".
