The LSU Football team remains in contention to finish this recruiting cycle with the Nation's top ranked recruiting class. As the spring draws to a close the LSU Football team holds the Nation's top ranked class with just 9 commitments. As the LSU Football team looks to finish this class with the top class, the Tigers will look to keep adding elite talents at positions of need.
One of the positions that remains a massive need for the Tigers is cornerback as LSU will need to replace a veteran group of transfers the Tigers brought in this offseason. On Tuesday, the Tigers made another step toward adding an elite talent this time at cornerback.
Elite Cornerback Chauncey Kennon includes LSU in Top 6
On Tuesday, cornerback Chauncey Kennon cut his list down to just six schools including the LSU football team along with Florida, Oregon, Georgia, Miami, and Florida State.
The field in the recruitment of Kennon is absolutely loaded as LSU will need to beat out Oregon and Georgia along with the three in-state schools to land one of the best cornerbacks in the class. According to On3, Chauncey Kennon is the 41st ranked player in the class, the 6th ranked cornerback, and the 6th ranked player out of Florida.
While LSU will be at a disadvantage being one of the out of state schools, the Tigers will have Florida ties to Kennon. Prior to his return to LSU, Corey Raymond was the defensive backs coach at Florida which makes him familiar to the Sarasota native.
The Tigers will get Chauncey Kennon on campus this Summer for an official visit on June 20th which is the final of his official visits. LSU doesn't have a cornerback commitment on board yet but, the Tigers have made strong pushes with elite corners in Havon Finney Jr, Hayward Howard, and Dez Ellis which should allow the Tigers to build out a strong class.
