As of late, any top recruit the LSU Football team is making a push for is seemingly committing to the Tigers. The run by the LSU Tigers on the recruiting trail has been incredible as commitments from Tristen Keys, Jabari Mack, Havon Finney Jr, and more have taken the Tigers to the top of the recruiting class rankings nationally. The run LSU has been on has the fans and analysts around the Country asking "who's next?" as the Tigers are building out this recruiting class at an absurd level.
Duncanville star Landon Barnes includes LSU in Top 8 ahead of the Summer
On Sunday, star Duncanville edge rusher Landon Barnes revealed his Top 8 programs revealing that LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, SMU, Arizona State, Washington, Texas, and Ohio State are all still in the hunt to land his commitment.
On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings have Landon Barnes as a 4-star recruit ranked as the 147th ranked player in the class, the 20th ranked edge rusher, and the 23rd ranked player out of Texas.
If LSU is going to win out in the recruitment of Landon Barnes, the Tigers are going to make a serious late push this summer. Barnes has been on LSU's radar for awhile as he camped with the Tigers in June of 2023 but, that was also with the former defensive staff. This spring LSU got Barnes back on campus for an unofficial visit and will hope to get a return visit this summer which would increase LSU's chances of landing Barnes.
Duncanville is a school that LSU has recruited hard for the past few recruiting cycles as the 2024 recruiting class gave LSU Caden Durham while LSU pushed hard for Collin Simmons and in 2025 LSU held a commitment from Dakorien Moore before he decommitted.
As things currently stand, LSU doesn't hold a commitment from an edge rusher in this recruiting class. The Tigers will need to look to reload the room after signing one edge rusher last recruiting cycle while transfers Patrick Payton, Jimari Butler, and Jack Pyburn are all Seniors.
