The NFL Draft came to a close on Saturday Afternoon after three days of College Football stars making the leap to the professional ranks. LSU's NFL draft run started with Will Campbell getting selected 4th overall on Thursday night and came to a close on Saturday with Garrett Dellinger getting selected 243rd overall to the Baltimore Ravens. After the chaos of the NFL Draft came to a close, the real chaos began as the undrafted players all quickly sign as undrafted free agents.
Almost every draft eligible LSU Tigers prospect that didn't get the call as an NFL Draft pick signed as an NFL undrafted free agent almost instantly. The undrafted free agent deals give the former LSU stars a great chance to compete to make an NFL roster. The list below will be updated as additional LSU Tigers sign with NFL teams as training camp approaches.
Tracking the former LSU Tigers signing with NFL teams
The Buffalo Bills jumped on the chance to land LSU defensive lineman Paris Shand right after the draft came to a close. While Shand's production doesn't jump off of the page, his versatility to play defensive tackle and defensive end gives him a chance to make an NFL roster and to build out a long career. After moving from defensive end to defensive tackle, Paris Shand racked up a career high 24 tackles with 2 sacks.
While Major Burns didn't get selected, he had a deal lined up rather quickly as an undrafted free agent signing with the Bears. After spending the 2020 season with the Georgia Bulldogs, the Baton Rouge native returned home spending four seasons as a key piece of LSU's defense. The Bears are getting a solid tackler that brings physicality and has a ton of range in coverage but, Burns will need to cut down on his mistakes to stick in the NFL.
Major Burns racked up 49 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and a forced fumble this season at safety for LSU.
Wisconsin transfer Gio Paez is heading North after one season at LSU signing as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears. Paez spent four seasons at Wisconsin as a solid presence on the inside before transferring to LSU as a graduate transfer. Paez is a solid run defender but, to make an NFL roster he'll need to develop as a pass rusher as his lone sack came in 2024 at LSU.
Zy Alexander transferred into LSU as a relative unknown out of Southeastern Louisiana. Alexander quickly became LSU's top cover cornerback but, a torn ACL in 2023 set back his journey to the NFL. After an impressive 2024 season, Alexander seemed like a potential Day 2 selection yet, he shockingly went undrafted.
The Seahawks are getting a productive cornerback as Alexander racked up 13 interceptions in four seasons on the field. Alexander has the ideal size and length to make an impact on the outside at the NFL level and he'll have the best chance among all of LSU's undrafted free agents to make an NFL roster.
After walking on to the LSU Football team as a 2-star recruit out of Texas, Josh Williams had to compete to even see the field. Josh Williams slowly went from practice player to special teams player before emerging as LSU starting running back and one of the team's leaders. In 2024, Josh Williams received the honor of wearing the 18 at LSU speaking to his immense work ethic.
In 2024, Williams rushed for 482 yards on 117 carries with 263 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns on the season. After the draft, Josh Williams signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he'll look to use his experience to make the roster.
