Last Week the floodgates opened on the recruiting trail as the recruiting dead period came to a close allowing recruits to return to colleges across the country. During the first recruiting weekend of the Spring, LSU had a solid group of recruits visiting campus headlined by 2027 Quarterback Trae Taylor. This weekend is set to be a massive recruiting weekend for LSU in part because of reasons outside of LSU's control but, the Tigers will capitalize.
This weekend, Battle will host a 7 on 7 tournament in New Orleans which will bring some of the top recruits in the Country to Louisiana.

As elite talent floods into Louisiana it gives LSU a great chance to get some of the top players in the Country on campus for an unofficial visit. Among a loaded group of recruits visiting LSU is one of the best players in the Country, edge rusher Anthony Jones.

According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Anthony Jones is a Five Star recruit ranked as the 15th best player in the Class, the 2nd ranked edge rusher, and the top player out of Alabama. Given that Anthony Jones has two SEC schools in his backyard it'll be tough to beat out Auburn and Alabama but, On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine gives LSU the best chance out of the out of state schools to land Jones.
Last cycle LSU only signed edge rusher Damien Shanklin which creates an immediate need to land edge rushers in this recruiting class. Add in the fact that LSU will lose transfer edge rushers Patrick Payton, Jimari Butler, and Jack Pyburn as they're seniors and the Tigers need to load up on pass rushers in this recruiting class.
Getting Jones on campus this Spring is massive for LSU as the coaching staff gets the chance to impress him before the Summer hopefully landing a return visit for an official visit. LSU has a ton of defensive line talent in its backyard in this class but, an elite five star edge from a rivals state would be a massive addition to any recruiting class.
Leaving this weekend, everyone should have a better sense of where LSU stands in this recruitment and if the Tigers truly have a chance at landing Jones.
