Five Star LSU Target Chris Cenac is set to announce his commitment on Tuesday
The Early Signing Period is closed for College Basketball programs which means uncommitted recruits won't be able to sign until the Spring. The LSU Basketball program had a great early signing period signing three top 75 recruits accounting for the Nation's 15th ranked recruiting class and the 5th best class in the SEC.
The Tigers however are still awaiting the official decision from one recruit and its far and away LSU's top priority. Five-Star Forward Chris Cenac is easily Matt McMahon's top priority, and the wait will end soon as he'll announce his decision on Tuesday Night.
Cenac will make his decision between Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Houston, Baylor, and LSU. This recruitment has been pretty quiet on where Cenac may be leaning but, LSU got the last visit while Tennessee and Houston are both at or near the top of his list with LSU.
According to On3, Cenac is the 4th ranked recruit in the Nation, the 2nd ranked Power Forward, and the top player in Missouri where he's currently playing for Link Academy. The Tigers, however, have the home team advantage as Cenac is a New Orleans Native.
Landing a commitment from Chris Cenac is the most important recruit for Matt McMahon during his time at LSU. Its rare to see a player ranked as high as Cenac is from Louisiana and when there is one LSU has to win out.
Two other things are in LSU's favor
Aside from LSU being the home team, there are two other factors that give LSU a great shot at landing the five-star. For starters, LSU got the final visit which is always important as it can give you momentum into the decision. The other development working for LSU is the play of the big men for the Tigers this season especially as Jalen Reed starts to look like an NBA First Round Pick. We'll see if Matt McMahon is able to land his top target on Tuesday as it'll decide how well this class finishes.
