Coming down the stretch of her final collegiate season, Johnson is looking to become just the sixth player in LSU women's basketball history to join the 2,000-point club. With a total of 1,965 points to her name in her career, Johnson is 35 points away from reaching such an impressive milestone with the Tigers.
The current 2,000-point club for the purple and gold includes Joyce Walker (2,906), Seimone Augustus (2,702), Julie Gross (2,488), Cornelia Gayden (2,451), and Sylvia Fowles (2,234).
Johnson has been a model of consistency throughout her time in Baton Rouge. She has appeared in 134 games with 132 starts at LSU, and is averaging 14.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in her career. The last time Johnson and LSU faced Tennessee, Johnson put up 20 points to help lead the Tigers to an 89-87 victory over the Volunteers last season on January 9. Looking to improve to 25-4 on the season, another 20-point performance from Johnson would bode well for LSU's chances of finding the win column once again.
Tip-off between the Tigers and Volunteers is set for 5:00 p.m. CT tonight. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN. Along with Johnson, LSU seniors Izzy Besselman and Amiya Joyner will also be honored before the game begins.
