The third-ranked LSU Tigers are set to open SEC play with a home tilt against the Florida Gators this Saturday night at Tiger Stadium. LSU is coming off a 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech, while Florida is coming off a colossal loss to South Florida at home. Despite the loss, LSU can't afford to overlook the Gators in any way.

After putting up 16 points and scoring just one offensive touchdown against the Bulls, Florida fans were hoping to get an offensive boost with the high anticipated collegiate debut of five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson against LSU. However, that will have to wait. For the third straight week, Wilson has been ruled out with a lower-leg injury.

LSU catches injury break with Dallas Wilson out

Wilson was the star of Florida's spring game, as he collected 10 catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns. While it was just a scrimmage, it was an eye-popping performance that gave Gator fans hope that Wilson could make an immediate impact in Florida's offense with DJ Lagway at quarterback.

But, Wilson suffered a lower-body injury in Fall Camp, and has yet to make his Florida debut. He was seen wearing a walking boot prior to the game against USF, and didn't participate in pregame activities. At this time, he still doesn't have a timeline to return to the field.

Wilson was rated as the No. 4 receiver and No. 26 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class. After originally committing to Oregon, Billy Napier was able to successfully flip Wilson to Florida. LSU catches a break in not having to worry about Wilson's elite skill set on Saturday night. Florida's leading receiver so far this season is freshman Varnell Brown III, who has eight catches for 135 yards through two games.

Lagway also missed significant time in Fall Camp, as he was dealing with shoulder and calf injuries. Thus, the Florida offense wasn't able to gel throughout camp, which could have played a big role in Florida's 18-16 loss to South Florida last weekend. The Gators were favored by 18 points. Kick-off between the Tigers and Gators is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.
