The College Basketball Transfer Portal has been in full swing for two weeks as thousands of players across the country have entered the transfer portal looking for their next schools. While the College Football transfer portal is crazy, the college basketball portal is far more hectic as team's can build a full roster of transfers and expect to compete for a National Championship which isn't suitable in football.
In the transfer portal, some players become regulars whether it's because they moved down a level and are now moving back up or because they've entered the transfer portal on a yearly basis.
Former LSU signee Josh Gray enters the transfer portal seeking 4th program
On Wednesday, former LSU center Josh Gray entered the transfer portal, this time leaving Missouri as he'll seek a fourth school.
Josh Gray signed with LSU during the 2020 recruiting cycle signing on to the program while Will Wade was still the Head Coach. As a True Freshman, Gray appeared in 10 games for LSU scoring a total of 8 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers. After his Freshman Season, Josh Gray entered the transfer portal, sticking in the SEC as he transferred to South Carolina.
At South Carolina, Josh Gray would stick around from 2021-2024 appearing in 88 games as a Gamecock. In his three seasons, Josh Gray posted his best season in 2022-23 as he averaged 4.3 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Gray just spent this past season at Missouri serving a rotational role for the Tigers. In 15.6 minutes per game, Gray averaged 3.2 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53.1% from the field.
Given that Josh Gray is in the transfer portal once again, he likely should look for a school that he can start at possibly at the Mid Major level if his goal is to have a bigger impact. Gray has bounced around the SEC and while he's always served a consistent role, he's never had a breakout season which he may not have a chance to get at the Power 4 level.
