The transfer portal in College Basketball continues to spin despite the fact that the Spring transfer window in College Football has taken the center stage. The LSU Basketball team made an early flurry bringing in five key transfers who should help the Tigers in bouncing back from a 3-15 season in SEC play. While the Tigers continue to look for potential additions, the other factor of the transfer portal is following where the former LSU Basketball stars end up committing.

This Spring, the LSU Basketball team lost several players in Corey Chest, Vyctorius Miller, Noah Boyed, Mike Williams III, Daimion Collins, and Tyrell Ward. This weekend, another one of LSU's former players came off the board picking his next destination.

Former LSU Basketball star Tyrell Ward commits to VCU

On Saturday Night, former LSU Basketball star Tyrell Ward found his next landing spot by committing to VCU.

The news doesn't come as a massive surprise as it was clear that Tyrell Ward wasn't going to return to LSU next season. Tyrell Ward was ruled out right before the start of the season as LSU released a statement that Ward would miss the season to focus on his mental health. The loss of Ward hurt the Tigers as LSU could've used another scorer on the wing.

In his last season with the LSU Basketball team, Tyrell Ward averaged 9.1 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 41.3% from three.

Matt McMahon getting Tyrell Ward back for 2023-24 was one of the biggest wins which made him missing the season even more difficult. By committing to VCU, Ward moves much closer to his hometown of Washington, D.C. While Tyrell Ward's LSU career didn't end the way LSU fans would've hoped, he'll forever be remembered for his buzzer beater against Kentucky.
