The college football coaching carousel is already in full effect as the season enters Week 10. A total of 10 head coaches have been fired already this season, with LSU's firing of Brian Kelly making headlines over the past week. LSU is on a bye this weekend, but one game that Tiger fans may be keeping an eye on is Dave Aranda's Baylor Bears taking on the UCF Knights.

Aranda helped lead LSU to the 2019 national title as the defensive coordinator on Ed Orgeron's staff. He left Baton Rouge in 2020 to replace Matt Rhule at Baylor. Now in his 6th season with the Bears, Aranda's seat may be getting hot.

Aranda's Bears own a 4-4 record this season with a 2-3 record in conference play. Going into Saturday's showdown against UCF, the Locked On Baylor Bears podcast says that Aranda's job security is on the line.

"The vibes are as low as they have been," says host Cam Stuart. Baylor entered their bye week 4-2, but then dropped back-to-back games to TCU and Cincinnati. The defense has been Aranda's calling card in his career, but Baylor owns the second-worst scoring defense in the Big 12 allowing 32.6 points per game this season.

Aranda had the Bears ranked as high as No. 5 in the AP Poll in 2022 following a 12-2 season and a win over Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. It was the best season in Baylor program history. But things have gone downhill since then. Aranda's overall record at Baylor is now a pedestrian 35-34, which includes an underwhelming 23-27 mark in Big 12 games.

In a game that Aranda has to have, oddsmakers have faith in the former LSU defensive coordinator. Baylor is currently favored by 3 points over UCF according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The Knights are 4-3 on the season but just 1-3 in Big 12 play, making this matchup a must-win game for Aranda and Baylor.
