As Lane Kiffin continues building his roster for his first season in Baton Rouge, plenty of former Tigers who entered the transfer portal are finding their new homes. The latest former LSU player to commit to his new school is junior cornerback Ashton Stamps.

Ashton Stamps was the odd man out in LSU's secondary in 2025
Stamps leaves Baton Rouge after 3 seasons with the Tigers. He appeared in 11 games and made four starts as a true freshman in 2023, collecting 23 tackles and a pair of passes defended. He shined in his sophomore campaign in 2024, finishing 3rd in the SEC with 14 passes defended while starting all 13 games and seeing plenty of action on special teams. In his career, he racked up 75 tackles and 18 pass breakups.
Unfortunately, Stamps' role was severely diminished in 2025. Heading into the new season, Brian Kelly and defensive coordinator Blake Baker re-vamped LSU's secondary with an influx of talent through the transfer portal. Most notably, CB Mansoor Delane, S AJ Haulcy, and S Tamarcus Cooley all took on big roles in their first seasons with the Tigers.
At the cornerback position, Delane, as well as 5-star freshman DJ Pickett and sophomore PJ Woodland all played at high levels throughout the season. That meant Stamps was the odd man out in LSU's secondary. Thus, he saw very limited playing time this season, and appeared in just 3 games before deciding to leave the program back in October.
After North Carolina also showed plenty of interest in his portal recruitment, Stamps is now Tempe bound to play for Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils. He figures to compete for a starting job from the jump.
