The LSU Basketball team is still in the midst of the College Basketball transfer portal despite the fact that players can no longer enter the transfer portal. This transfer cycle has resulted in a massive overhaul of the LSU basketball roster as the Tigers have seen a large exodus. The massive number of departures isn't a bad thing as LSU clearly needed to retool this roster following a terrible season which included a 3-15 season in SEC play.
While it appeared that the LSU Basketball team was no longer going to lose players to the transfer portal at the last moment, the Tigers suffered one last departure. Despite previously announcing he was returning to LSU, Freshman point guard Curtis Givens III entered the transfer portal right before it closed.
The entry could've meant two things, LSU either sent Givens into the transfer portal as the team continues to add talent or Curtis Givens III wanted to test his options. On Thursday, Curtis Givens III shared which team's he's hearing from early on in his transfer cycle.
Curtis Givens III reveals SEC and Power 4 interest in the transfer portal
On Thursday, LSU Basketball fans got a quick glimpse into the level of team's that are pursing Curtis Givens III.
Among the long list of programs, the thing that stands out the most is the level of SEC interest Curtis Givens III is drawing. Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Georgia, and Ole Miss are all showing interest in Givens which means the LSU Tigers may end up facing Givens III next season.
The news isn't surprising to LSU fans as Curtis Givens III was a highly ranked recruit who got a ton of playing time for the Tigers as a Freshman. While Givens III didn't have a massive season, his ability to run an offense will be appealing to other programs as he could lead another team's second unit. Given how packed his recruitment is, it'll be interesting to see where Givens lands and who LSU takes to replace him.
