As the new world of Name, Image, and Likeness continues to shape college athletics with revenue sharing on the horizon, College Football and Basketball programs are being forced to adapt with the times. One of the changes to the sport has come as programs have started to align themselves to how professional teams are modeled hiring a General Manager and front office personnel to handle the NIL and Revenue Sharing side of recruiting.
This offseason, the LSU Basketball team has become more of a threat on the recruiting trail as LSU has invested more NIL resources into Matt McMahon so the Tigers can compete in the SEC. As the Tigers see this influx of basketball funding along with revenue sharing coming down the pipeline, LSU needed to get someone in place to handle the money side of the business.
Ronald Dupree returns to LSU as the Tigers General Manager
On Monday, LSU brought a former Tiger back home as former LSU Basketball star Ronald Dupree returns to Baton Rouge to serve the role of General Manager for LSU.
Bucks executive and former six-year NBA forward Ronald Dupree is returning to alma mater LSU as the general manager of the men's basketball program, sources tell ESPN. Dupree spent eight years with Bucks front office, and now becomes among few ex-standout players as school GM.

When ESPN's NBA Insider Shams Charania announces the news, you know its a massive hire for the Tigers.
Ronald Dupree leaves the Milwaukee Bucks organization after joining the team in 2017 as a scout rising to the role of Director of Global Scouting in 2021. Hiring former players to become the GM for the program has become a trend around college football and basketball with Andrew Luck being hired by Stanford being the biggest example.
Dupree's experience in the LSU program isn't limited to his time as a player as he was a student assistant during the 2014-15 season.
There are few hires that would move the needle more for LSU as Dupree comes with experience in the program and experience in an NBA Front Office. While Dupree isn't the biggest name, he was a three-time All-SEC selection and was able to carve out a nice career in the NBA. As LSU looks to build a winner in the SEC, Dupree will be instrumental in the Tigers recruiting and evaluation of top recruits.
