Despite battling an abdominal injury for most of the 2025 season, Garrett Nussmeier leaves LSU as one of the most decorated passers in program history. He ranks 3rd in passing yards (7,699), 4th in touchdowns (52), and 2nd in completions (660) among all LSU quarterbacks to don the purple and gold.
Garrett Nussmeier tells all on his 2025 season derailed by injuries
Nussmeier is now preparing for the Senior Bowl, as he aims to impress NFL organizations ahead of April's NFL Draft. His LSU career may be over, but Tiger fans will forever root for the Lake Charles native as he begins his professional career.
As he continues to prepare for Saturday's Senior Bowl, Nussmeier's latest comments show that he has plenty of confidence in Lane Kiffin at the helm of the LSU Football program.
Nussmeier has confidence in Kiffin's ability to get the job done at LSU
During the Senior Bowl process, Nussmeier was asked about LSU's hiring of Kiffin following the firing of Brian Kelly, via Glen West of 247Sports. He had nothing but good things to say.
"I was obviously done before he came. I've had a couple of conversations with him. Very excited for him, very excited for the way that LSU is trending as a program and I think he's going to be very good for the culture and the fit of Louisiana. I think he's going to be very good for that locker room and I'm very excited for them, rooting for them and I think they're gonna do very well."Garrett Nussmeier
Nussmeier had already completed his collegiate career when Kiffin came on board, but his comments express great confidence in the direction of the LSU program under Kiffin.
Nussmeier appeared in nine games in 2025, throwing for 1,927 yards and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions. His career didn't end the way he wanted, as his senior campaign was severely hindered by a nagging abdominal injury that limited him from using his core. Thus, Nussmeier has a lot to gain from a solid showing in Saturday's Senior Bowl.
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Nussmeier ranked No. 6 quarterback on his latest NFL Draft Big Board rankings. Thus, Nussmeier is tentatively projected to be selected in Rounds 3-4, but that can change with a stand-out performance at the Senior Bowl.
