Heading into the season, the big concern for LSU fans aside from the defensive struggles was what we'd get out of the quarterback position. The Tigers had a Heisman winner in Jayden Daniels at the position which makes it hard to replace as Jayden Daniels led the team in passing and rushing. Through seven games, Garrett Nussmeier has been great for LSU and when you start to look around the SEC, Nussmeier may be the best of the bunch.

Thus far, Garrett Nussmeier ranks 6th in the Nation in passing yards trailing only Jaxson Dart in the SEC with 2,222 yards. Nussmeier's 18 passing touchdowns leads the SEC and ranks 7th nationally while the quarterbacks ahead of him have played much lighter schedules.

The Texas Longhorns have had their struggles at quarterback as Quinn Ewers missed time with an injury before he was benched against Georgia for Arch Manning. The other quarterback in that matchup Carson Beck didn't have his best game throwing multiple interceptions which he also did against Alabama.

The other big game of the weekend between Alabama and Tennessee wasn't the picture of great quarterback play. Jalen Milroe missed open receivers all night while throwing a pair of interceptions in a loss to Tennessee. Nico Iamaleava hasn't lived up to the hype he was given as a former top recruit as Tennessee is now winning with defense rather than offense.

Texas A&M hasn't asked its quarterbacks to do a ton, and they also missed Conner Weigman for a few games while he missed time with an injury.

Jaxson Dart has put up massive numbers but, in big games like against LSU, Dart hasn't made the best decisions and has struggled mightily. LaNorris Sellers is another quarterback where his highs are incredible but, the lows make him a less desirable quarterback especially given his style of play.

Brady Cook for Missouri has played solid football in his career but, on the season he has just seven touchdowns and hasn't had his best performances when Missouri needs him.

Schools like Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, and Oklahoma have all been through a few quarterbacks and they haven't really found success with any of them.

If you're an LSU fan, which quarterback in the SEC would you trade Garrett Nussmeier for because there isn't a clear-cut answer. In Nussmeier's best games, the LSU offense is high flying and is able to move the ball with efficiency down the field. Even when Nussmeier is at his worst he still takes care of the football for the most part and doesn't kill LSU with turnovers.

While Nussmeier likely isn't a Heisman contender or an elite NFL Draft prospect, he has been exactly what LSU needed and is playing his way into being considered one of the best in the country.
