When LSU takes on the Florida Gators, it'll be a True Freshman versus a Redshirt Junior yet, both quarterbacks are first year starters. Garrett Nussmeier had to take the long way to becoming LSU's starter while DJ Lagway was challenging for the job before he even signed his letter of intent. Lagway is the Quarterback everyone wants to be with a massive arm and dual threat ability while Garrett Nussmeier is more of an old school pockett passer.
When the game kicks off, Garrett Nussmeier can't be the one making mistakes in this game especially if LSU finds itself in a close game. The entire outlook of the season flipped three weeks ago in College Station as Nussmeier entered the game receiving a ton of buzz from NFL Draft Analysts.
In the first half Nussmeier was dominant but, in the third quarter he tried to do too much and instead threw an interception. After that interception, Nussmeier was pressing which then led to him throwing another interception and the game got out of hand.
Against Alabama, the entire team played poorly but, a play that will stand out is Nussmeier reacting late and his throw came out a second or two late and instead of finding the open receiver he found Deontae Lawson holding the score at 21-6
This needs to be a clean day from Garrett Nussmeier
If Garrett Nussmeier plays poorly and LSU still wins all it does is create concern the rest of the way which is why getting Nussmeier back on track is important. An Interception on the road can change the momentum of the game bringing the crowd back to life. Teams haven't been respecting Nussmeier's legs when the Tigers run the read option so look out, he may look to keep one and make a big play on the ground.
