The LSU Football program is searching for its next head coach after firing Brian Kelly on Sunday. The search has already generated a ton of buzz, as names of potential hires are making the rounds in essentially every media outlet. LSU got the Kelly hire wrong, and it can't afford another bad hire this time around.

On Wednesday, Louisiana governor Jeff Landry made several comments regarding the search for Kelly's replacement. Most notably, Landry said that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward would not be involved in the hiring process.

Woodward's failed hires of Jimbo Fisher and Brian Kelly are the main reason why Landry said he won't be making the decision of LSU's next head coach. “This is a pattern," Landry said. "The guy (Woodward) here now that wrote that contract cost A&M $77 million. Right now, we have a $53 million liability and we are not doing that again."

Instead, Landry stated that the LSU Board of Supervisors will select the program's next head coach. The governor appoints members of the board, which adds another dimension to the already jumbled situation.

"We are going to pick a coach and make sure he’s successful and we are going to make sure he’s compensated properly and put metrics on it. I’m tired of rewarding failure in this country," Landry added.

LSU is set to announce a new university president in the coming weeks, which means Woodward's time at LSU may be coming to an end in the near future. That seems especially true when hearing Landry's comments about the LSU Football coaching search. With the LSU Board of Supervisors set to make the decision over Woodward, the LSU AD's days in Baton Rouge may be numbered. Only time will tell, but the Brian Kelly firing fallout has college football fans interested to see what direction LSU goes with the hire.
