On Friday Night, the LSU Softball team kicked off their season against Charlotte looking to start the season off on the right page. On the mound for Beth Torina was a Freshman Jayden Heavener who has become a household name for LSU Softball fans before even debuting. Heavener was the Nation's Number One recruit and has been committed to LSU for close to two and a half years before finally arriving in Baton Rouge.

When the Tigers took the field it was clear that Heavener was in total control striking out two of the first three batters setting the tone for the game. As the game went on, LSU fans kept looking to the scoreboard as Charlotte didn't have any hits, walks, or runs. Then Heavener capped off her start forever etching her name in the history books with a perfect game.

Heavener becomes the first pitcher in program history to throw a perfect game in her collegiate debut an incredible feat. The Freshman phenom was dominant striking out 13 batters en route to the perfect game.

The LSU Softball team couldn't have asked for a better start to the year and Beth Torina couldn't have gotten a better performance from the Freshman ace. Coming into the season, everyone expected that Heavener was going to be a star for LSU but, to live up to the expectations in her first start is better than anyone could've ever expected.

Coming into the season, the LSU Softball team was ranked 10th in the Country which is about what everyone expected. Given how the team performed to start the year, with Heavener and Sydney Berzon, this team could have one of the best duos in the country which only elevates the team's ceiling.
