On Friday Night, the LSU Baseball team kicked off its postseason with a win over the Texas A&M Aggies in a close game. The Tigers sent Kade Anderson to the mound and he was followed by Anthony Eyanson which showed how much Jay Johnson wanted to move on in the Tournament. Now the LSU Tigers will face off against the Ole Miss Rebels with a chance to all but, lock up a Top 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The LSU Baseball team earned a double bye in the NCAA Tournament, meaning that the Tigers have only played one game to this point. On the other side of this matchup, Ole Miss has already built nice momentum heading into the NCAA Tournament with wins over Florida and Arkansas.
As LSU looks to go on a run in this Tournament and in the NCAA Tournament, LSU will need to find a rhythm on offense. In Friday's game, LSU quickly built a 4-0 lead but, the Tigers were shut out from the 4th inning on. Based on the pitchers LSU will have available in this game, this matchup would be the best time for the offense to step up.
Who will start for the LSU Baseball team?
Given that Jay Johnson burned Kade Anderson and Anthony Eyanson on Friday night, LSU’s starter on Saturday is a question. The Tigers could send Casan Evans to the mound as he’s emerged as of late as the Tigers 3rd starter. Jay Johnson could also call upon Chase Shores who was warming up on Friday Night. The most likely scenario is that Jay Johnson turns this into a bullpen game while the wildcard would be starting Zac Cowan.
