The regular season has come to a close and postseason play has arrived in College Softball as the SEC Tournament kicks off on May 6th. The LSU Softball team finished the regular season with a 40-13 record with a 12-12 record in SEC Play. The Tigers record secured them the 9th seed into the SEC Tournament which means LSU was the last team to earn a first round bye.

While every other team playing in the second round, the LSU Softball team already has their matchup set as they'll take on the 8th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Tigers and the Bulldogs never faced off in the regular season which means both teams will be feeling each other out for the first time. Mississippi State finished the season with a 37-16 record while just edging LSU out in SEC play with a 13-11 record.

While the LSU Tigers are the 9th seed in the SEC Tournament, a few wins this week could help LSU in securing the chance to host a Super Regional. The NCAA Women's Softball RPI has LSU 4th which puts them right in the mix to host a Super Regional as long as they continue to boost their ranking this week.
