After a massive week where the LSU Baseball team went 4-0, including a sweep of 10th-ranked Oklahoma, the LSU Tigers are back in action as they head to Thibodeaux to take on Nicholls State. The LSU Baseball team is now the 3rd-ranked team in the Country with a 30-3 record, while Nicholls State has had a brutal season to this point with a 12-20 record.

All season long, the LSU Baseball team has been led by their dominant offense but, this weekend they got their best showing yet from the pitching staff. The Tigers only used two relievers the entire weekend, which gives Jay Johnson his full arsenal of arms available for this game.

The two teams have already faced earlier in the season, where the Tigers bested Colonels13-3 in seven innings. In the first matchup, William Schmidt took the mound for LSU, where he went 4.2 Innings, allowing just one earned run en route to the win. Steven Milam and Bear Jones combined for 8 runs driven in against Nicholls State earlier this year, and they'll look to power LSU's offense once again.

Who Could Start for LSU?

The last weekday start went to true Freshman William Schmidt who has already faced and beaten the Nicholls State Colonels which could put him in line for the start. The two prior weekday starts have gone to Jaden Noot who has been incredibly impressive in his two starts and in his relief appearances with a 2-0 record across 14.2 innings pitched with a 3.07 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and just 6 walks on the season. Gavin Guidry remains a wild card as Jay Johnson keeps saying he's nearing a return and hoped Guidry would return this week but, it seems the Tigers once again won't have Gavin Guidry back.
