The LSU Baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday Afternoon as the Tigers face off against the Southern Jaguars. The Tigers are coming off of a Weekend Series sweep of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons behind a massive showing by the Tigers pitching staff. The Southern Jaguars started their season off by winning 2 of 3 games in the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic in Houston.
This game isn't a high profile matchup especially as LSU is the third ranked team in the Country but, it is important early on in the season. The LSU Baseball team is still ironing out several aspects of the roster from the pitching rotation to the lineup to the bullpen.
The first change comes as LSU will start a new starting pitcher as none of the Tigers weekend starters will be available to pitch in this game. Transfer Conner Ware had an outstanding offseason and could start on Tuesday or Wednesday. Jay Johnson also hasn't pitched Gavin Guidry which puts him line for a chance at starting.
Jay Johnson spoke highly about the Southern Jaguars and his experience facing the team saying the following:
"Southern beat the heck out of us last year, so we will have to be ready to go. (Southern coach) Chris Crenshaw does a great job there, and I saw where they scored a lot of runs over the weekend. We’re really excited for the opportunity to play this week and continue to develop our team, and facing two good programs in both Southern and Nicholls in the midweek will give us the chance to do that."Jay Johnson
During their Opening Weekend, the Southern Jaguars went 30 for 96 at the plate (.313) with 11 extra base hits meaning they'll string together some tough at bats against LSU.

The LSU Tigers and Southern Jaguars will face off at 2:00 PM Central Time or 3:00 PM for the Tigers fans on the East Coast. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network + which is one of ESPN's streaming offerings.
