If Tennessee Safety Boo Carter enters the Transfer Portal, LSU should make a strong push

The Tigers were early aggressors in the transfer portal filling need after need in the first week and a half. While that is when a majority of the transfers enter the transfer portal there still may be big names that enter the transfer portal. As teams lose next week in the College Football Playoff, we'll see another wave of players enter from their teams.

One of those players may be Tennessee Safety Boo Carter who is weighing his options before the transfer portal closes after the Volunteers season ended against Ohio State.

Given that LSU has a massive need at safety Carter would be the perfect player for LSU to go after as he's a True Freshman which would give LSU a few years with him in the system. This season, Carter racked up 38 tackles, a sack, and an interception while being electric as a Punt Returner.

Carter is another player that would be a solid fit taking Major Burns role in the star position. Boo Carter makes a ton of plays when he's close to the line of scrimmage stopping the run, blitzing off the edge, and in coverage while he has the ability to play deep safety.

The lone point that may be an issue for LSU is the fact that Carter wants a role in the offense going forward regardless of where he plays. The Tigers are pretty set on offense with playmakers after loading up on transfers and having a solid class of players coming back on offense. If Carter was to be used on offense, the best fit would be similar to how LSU has used Zavion Thomas on screens and runs.

LSU already has a few players including Zavion Thomas that are best used in that role like Barion Brown and Aaron Anderson while Caden Durham is another player you'd like to get the football as often as possible in unique ways. If LSU could convince Carter to just serve as a returner and at safety, it would be a home run addition for LSU and instantly solve the need for a safety going forward.
