In a season of lows, LSU has now lost top recruit to a "poverty program"
After LSU lost its third straight game and fourth game of the season, LSU fans asked how could this year get any worse. As Michigan ramped up its NIL efforts LSU fans titled Michigan a poverty program, now the Tigers have egg on their face. On Thursday Night, LSU got its answer as the Nation's top overall recruit quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan.
As this season became a disaster for Michigan, their boosters quickly got moving on the NIL front and made Underwood a reported offer of $10.5 Million to lure him away from LSU.
The loss immediately drops LSU's class out of the top three and into the sixth ranking in the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings.
The loss of Underwood hits LSU in an even bigger way as the Tigers now lose the piece that was attracting all of the key pieces in LSU's class. Derek Meadows visited Michigan and Notre Dame as of late, you can count on him flipping to either now. LSU was battling South Carolina to keep tight end Mike Tyler in this class he'll likely flip now.
The Tigers now have two weeks to scramble to land a top quarterback in this class which is a tough task as LSU has had Underwood on board since January.
There are a few small positives with this loss
Its hard to see the light in any loss of Bryce Underwood as this class may now fall apart just weeks before signing day. For starters, everyone has complained about Joe Sloan this season now, Kelly can chose to move on as he no longer holds a commitment from Underwood. This move also frees up a ton of money in NIL which LSU can allocate toward landing Jahkeem Stewart or keeping its other recruits on board. This season has been an embarrasment and now we'll see how much lower things get over the next two weeks.
