Lane Kiffin was already going to be looking for a quarterback or two in the transfer portal. But now that Michael Van Buren is entering the portal as well, LSU now has zero scholarship quarterbacks on the roster for 2026. That means even more pressure is on Kiffin to go out and find LSU's next QB1 for next season. Kiffin has found great success using the portal in recent seasons at Ole Miss, and LSU fans are hoping that success continues into his tenure in Baton Rouge.
Chaz Coleman's visit to LSU has Tiger fans fired up about the possibilities
Kiffin's portal search seems to be off to a solid start, and he has landed a visit from Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby. In a loaded market, Sorsby is ranked as the No. 1 portal QB available by Saturday Blitz. Furthermore, industry experts at 247Sports are now giving LSU the crystal ball prediction to land Sorsby's services.

Brendan Sorsby could be the perfect fit for Lane Kiffin's offense
As the top-ranked QB on the market, it's not surprising to see Sorsby receiving interest from several Power 4 programs. Sorsby visited Texas Tech earlier this week, but reportedly left Lubbock without a deal in place. Now, industry experts are giving Kiffin and LSU the edge in his recruitment.
Sorsby's skill-set could be the perfect fit in Kiffin's offense. Kiffin has thrived with dual-threat transfer QBs in recent seasons (Jaxson Dart, Trinidad Chambliss), and Sorsby fits that mold. In 2025, Sorsby totaled 2,800 passing yards to go along with 27 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. He also added 580 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground.
LSU has produced a pair of Heisman Trophy quarterbacks over the last 7 seasons in Joe Burrow (2019) and Jayden Daniels (2023), and Kiffin is known as a bit of a quarterback guru. That combination could make LSU the ideal landing spot for Sorsby. As Sorsby's visit to Baton Rouge takes place on Sunday, Tiger fans are anxiously awaiting further updates.
