The LSU Tigers got a much-needed bye week after falling to Ole Miss in Week 5. LSU was without several key playmakers to begin with against the Rebels, and multiple starters went down with injuries during the game as well. The bye week came at a good time for the Tigers, who used the time to rest up and get healthy before welcoming the South Carolina Gamecocks to Tiger Stadium this Saturday night.
LSU Football injury updates: Several big names slated to return
Brian Kelly has provided several injury updates ahead of Saturday's matchup against South Carolina. According to Kelly, OT Weston Davis, WR Aaron Anderson, RB Caden Durham, and QB Garrett Nussmeier are all "good to go."
Getting Davis and Durham back will hopefully bring some consistency to LSU's running game. The Tiger rushing attack has been underwhelming all season long, but not having Durham available against Ole Miss was a big loss. He suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 and was initially listed as questionable to play against the Rebels, but was ultimately ruled out. Durham is LSU's leading rusher, collecting 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 52 carries so far this season. Harlem Berry is next in line with 109 yards on 22 carries.
WR1 Aaron Anderson suffered multiple injuries against Ole Miss last week, as he dealt with both an elbow injury as well as a knee issue. He was seen hobbling around on the sideline and did not play at all in the second half, collecting two catches for 12 yards before his departure. Anderson leads LSU with 305 receiving yards on 23 catches so far this season. He has great chemistry with Nussmeier, who will be happy to have his top target back in the lineup against the Gamecocks.
Nussmeier has been battling a torso injury all season. Kelly said that the LSU QB finally got some time to rest up over the bye and that he is good to go against South Carolina. Nussmeier hasn't looked like himself so far in 2025, throwing for 1,159 yards and just seven touchdowns with five interceptions through five games. For comparison, Nussmeier racked up 1,656 passing yards and 17 touchdowns with just four interceptions through five games in 2024. He totaled just 197 yards through the air in LSU's 24-19 loss to Ole Miss, and appeared severely limited in his ability to throw the ball down the field. He hasn't looked 100%, but Tiger fans are hoping the bye week gave him the time he needed to get back to full health.
