After picking up another late night victory over Arkansas on Friday Night/Saturday Morning, the LSU Baseball team returned to the diamond looking to secure a crucial series victory over Arkansas. LSU sent Anthony Eyanson to the mound coming off of his best start of the year but, the Tigers fans were hoping the offense would finally get back to form after some struggles at the plate.
As LSU looked to return to form on offense, all the Tigers needed on Saturday was Jake Brown as he crushed his way to victory for LSU. In the 1st inning, LSU instantly jumped on Arkansas as Brown blasted a 3 run home run to right giving the Tigers an early lead.
In the second inning the Tigers added to their lead as Cade Arrambide was next to join into the home run derby with a solo shot to right center.
Jake Brown returned the favor in the 3rd inning blasting his second home run of the afternoon to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead.
The offense was able to load the bases again in the 4th inning and Ethan Frey walked which allowed LSU to make it 6-0.
In the 5th inning, the Tigers put this game out of reach as the offense was clicking on all cylinders. Michael Braswell walked and Cade Arrambide hit a single to start the inning, which allowed Braswell to score on a Chris Stanfield sacrifice fly. Derek Curiel and Jared Jones then loaded the bases as the duo drew walks. Daniel Dickinson would drive another run home with a ground out before Jake Brown drove home his 5th run of the game home on an RBI single.
Ethan Frey then continued his red-hot stretch with a 3-run home run to Right Center which put the game into mercy rule territory.
While the Tigers exploded for 12 runs in this game, Anthony Eyanson didn't need much support in this game as he turned in another stellar showing. Eyanson pitched 6 scoreless innings for the Tigers, allowing just 5 hits with just 1 walk while striking out 11. As postseason play approaches, Eyanson is finding his rhythm at the perfect time, pitching his 4th straight game allowing less than 4 runs.
Mavrick Rizy came on for the Tigers in the 7th inning, looking to close out the game for Jay Johnson. Rizy allowed a leadoff double followed by a walk and a single, which allowed Arkansas to get on the board, ending his day before recording an out.
DJ Primeaux came on with runners on first and third, looking to make sure the Tigers ended this game before the 8th inning. Primeaux allowed a single to the only batter he faced forcing Jay Johnson to call on Jaden Noot with a 12-2 score. Noot got a flyout to center field and a ground out but, Arkansas made it 12-3, which sent this game to the bottom of 7th inning.
While the early celebration was delayed it was not canceled as LSU's offense picked up right where it left off. Daniel Dickinson led the inning off with a single before a perfect bunt by Jake Brown moved him to 2nd base. Steven Milam struck out with two outs but, a wild pitch and an offline throw allowed Dickinson to score giving LSU a walk-off win.
Picking up a weekend series win this weekend was massive for LSU especially after dropping last weekend's series against Texas A&M. The Tigers are still in a battle for one of the Top 4 seeds in the SEC tournament which makes these final four games important but, as the NCAA Tournament approaches the Tigers are in prime position to host a Regional and a Super Regional as a Top 8 seed.
